Building a Reddit Reply Machine with Zapier and Notion AI

How you can efficiently nurture an active Reddit presence with Zapier and Notion AI

    Reddit matters more than ever

Maintaining an active presence on Reddit is becoming increasingly valuable for startups and small businesses. Reddit has long been one of the best places to connect with communities that are passionate about your product category or niche. But its importance is growing for another reason: Large Language Models (LLMs) now rely heavily on Reddit when generating search and conversational responses.
This shift is part of a broader trend called Generative or Answer Engine Optimisation (GEO/AEO): the process of making your brand more discoverable in AI-generated answers. A thoughtful, consistent Reddit presence increases the chances that your brand’s insights surface in AI-powered search results.
It can be hard staying on top of Reddit, though, especially if you want to actively monitor multiple subreddits, or communities, simultaneously. So I built a Zapier- and Notion AI-powered workflow to:
    1. Quickly identify trending posts in relevant subreddits and add them to a Kanban board in Notion
    1. Use Notion AI, which has context from all our past work across not only our Notion workspace, but also connected tools like Slack, GitHub, Google Drive, and Linear, to help draft a response to interesting posts
    1. Send the response to the original post in Reddit with a single click in Notion

    How it works

    Step 1

The first step of the workflow is a set of Zaps that monitor sub-reddits that are of interest to us, such as r/notion, r/zapier, and r/singaporestartups.
These Zaps poll the designated sub-reddits every minute, and when they identify a new “hot” post (one with a lot of recent upvotes), they add the details to a Notion database.

    Step 2

Once an interesting Reddit post is in our Notion database, we open it, have Notion AI read the question, pull related work from our connected tools, and draft a reply - all without leaving Notion. (And we’ve built an Agent Personalisation template for this purpose, so that the copy written by Notion AI follows our writing style and doesn’t make up work that we haven’t actually done.)

    Step 3

Starting from Notion AI’s first draft, we can tweak the content until we’re happy with it, and then, with a single click on the Post reply button, send the response back to the original post on Reddit.

    Wrapping up

Building this Reddit Reply Workflow has shown how simple automation can extend your team’s reach without adding manual work. Whether you’re nurturing brand visibility or gathering real user insight, pairing Reddit’s communities with AI-driven workflows turns engagement into a repeatable, measurable process.
If you’d like to explore how to adapt this setup to your own stack, let’s talk.
